Incredible Stress: Mid-Semester Struggles As Told By 'The Incredibles'
The Incredibles

It's about that time in the semester when college campuses and school halls alike begin to look as though they are infested with coffee obsessed zombies. Well, it turns out that none other than the characters from The Incredibles have described the repetitive struggle we go through every day...

1. The calm before the storm

We all know those first couple weeks of the semester when we felt like we were totally conquering our classes. Homework? Tests? Projects? Time management? Pshhh, I got this. Come at me, classes, I’m ready for you... (the classic mistake)

2. The slow decline

And then that slow decline begins….Life throws a curve ball at you, and you start to panic as the homework slowly piles up, project deadlines approach, and your social life plummets. Oh and not to mention the sleep deprivation that is evident in all that you do. Coffee, please.

3. The breaking point

Chaos. Panic. Messes. Stress. Deadlines. *Breathe In* *Breathe Out* Your stress level reaches its peak and the coffee has run out. It’s time to practice your breathing, pull out those flash cards, and pretend like your life, schedule, and to-do list isn’t actually as crazy as it is. It's that easy right?...

4. Crossing that finish line

And then that glorious day comes. You did it. You got the grade, you turned it in, you passed (hopefully). You may be wearing the same coffee-stained outfit from 5 days ago, have bed head so bad that it looks trendy, and the darkest circles under your eyes, but you did it. Alright, zombie student, it's time for you to take a nap so you can start all over again fresh and ready.... (if that's even possible).

5. Go get em

Even though the stress can seem overwhelming and some nights feel like they will never end and you will never be free of all the monotony and assignments, you are still here. You are alive. You are one step closer to achieving whatever goal you have set before you. So as you keep fighting on, remember to keep your eyes ahead of you and not behind you. Now get off this article, make yourself some coffee, turn on that song you love, and conquer that mountain ahead of you. Go get em. You’re gonna be “incredible”... (I couldn’t resist).

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
