Looking at stars on a summer night is mesmerizing to me. I never want to look away. Call me crazy, but I could lay on a blanket in the grass looking at stars literally all night long. I think it's because it stirs up so much wonder inside of me.
It puts me in awe of God and His creation. It reminds me that the world is huge and that my time of existence on it is so small. It reminds me how omnipotent God is and how much higher his thoughts and plans are than mine. It comforts me to know that the God who holds my future is the one who hung the stars.
"God of wonders beyond our galaxy, You are holy."
While His capabilities are beyond our galaxy, God is never out of reach. Every time I look at a sky full of brilliant, radiant, stars I feel the closest to God that I've ever been. Staring at them for hours makes me want to emulate them. I want to burn with a passion for Christ. I want to shine His light. I want to be in a community with others who do the same and, together, create a masterpiece that so clearly proves the power of God that it is impossible to ignore - like a sky full of stars.
"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,
what is man that you are mindful of him,
and the son of man that you care for him?"
Psalm 8:3-4
