There are moments in life that are hard. And there are moments in life that are beautifully calm. No matter what we do, say, think or practice, this imbalance will always exist. But, there are ways to make living out these times overall, happier.
1. Stop judging.
We all exist on this planet for a limited amount of time. And we are all doing our best, every single day. So hold your judgement of the people around you who are simply trying to get by. How they live and what they do should have no impact on your own happiness. And while you're at it- don't judge yourself. You, too, are one of the people doing their best to make it through the day. So let yourself make mistakes and when they happen, know that it's okay and that you will do better next time.
2. Care what no one thinks about you.
There is no time left to spend even a second of the day worrying about what other people are thinking about you. As mentioned above, we are all doing our best to get by, so don't let the petty judgements of others affect you.
3. Be authentic.
Your life belongs to you and not a single other being. So do what makes you happy. See to it that your life is a reflection of who you are. Never change or alter yourself for other people. Because at the end of the day, if you are faking who you are, it is you and you alone who will suffer the consequences. It's simple, really. Do any and everything you want to do and say and wear and be.
4. Be open.
To new people, to ideas, to your heart. When you walk through life being closed to what is in front of you, opportunities pass you by that you may never see again. When you meet new people and are open to them, genuinely, you can learn. When you are open to new ideas, you literally open your entire future. You never know what will come of things until you give them a chance.
5. Be honest.
Say what you need to say!!!! In relationships, you can guarantee that if you don't speak exactly what you want to, you will end up not being pleased with the outcome of a situation. No one is a mind reader and therefor, your opinions and feelings can get lost in the mix if you don't share them. So, do so. Look out for yourself, because chances are, everyone else is looking out for themselves as well.
6. Learn who you are.
If you're going to do all of these amazing things for yourself, then you should learn who you truly are. Spend time alone. Don't be afraid to grab dinner alone or take a trip to the beach. Challenge yourself. Read books that make you think and set goals for yourself to accomplish things. You are more complex than you may realize, so expose yourself to good.
7. Never settle.
As much as we would like every day to be a spontaneous adventure, some will always be mundane. So fill your days with the best of everything you can imagine. Don't settle in love, in your career or in your location. But most importantly- don't settle in your happiness. Anything that you want, you can achieve. Treat yourself with respect and with love and remember that you deserve the absolute best.
8. Don't keep toxic relationships.
In love, friendships and family, relationships can be extremely touchy. Sometimes, people can be in your life who have run their course. While every relationship is one that can teach you things about yourself, some times that's all they can do. Teach you something. Some people aren't meant to stay in your life forever. Especially those that make you feel bad or those that send you in a constant emotional reeling. Only surround yourself with people who make you better than you are and who allow and encourage you to have your own happiness.
9. Find something to be passionate about.
Run. Read. Draw. Paint. Play. Whatever it is, find something that makes waking up in the morning an enjoyment. So that in the moments of 'you time' you have something that makes you genuinely pleased to be awake. Not only will this keep you busy, but it will add true enjoyment to your days. Don't let your life dull.
10. Be present.
The majority of the time in our days is spent working and studying. So when you are given the chance to communicate with other people, you should utilize it. Connect with people on a serious level. Pay attention when they speak to you. Give them your time. Let people know you. Don't half ass a conversation or compulsively check your social media accounts. Be aware that another human is dedicating their time to you and recognize that time is precious. So be there and live presently.
11. Spend time outside.
Take your eyes off of your phone. Shut your computer. Close down all of your technology and go outside. Literally and figuratively- breathe in the fresh air. The world is refreshing and beautiful. Give it a chance.
