The Impact Of Working With Children

Since the day I turned 16, I have been working in childcare. Working with all ages of children from 6 weeks old all the way up to 13 years old for over three years has definitely changed my perception on life.

Working with children is one of the biggest reasons I decided to change my major to elementary education. Meeting and adapting to each child is definitely something that took some getting used to.

As hard as it is to deal with the screaming and the arguing, at the end of the day it is all worth it.

The kids fighting is worth it.

The talking back is worth it.

The constant repetition of the phrases "no running" and "listening ears on" is worth it.

It's worth it to have the ability to even make a slight impact on a child life. The children that I work with today could turn out to be politicians that could impact society in the future. They could turn out to be doctors that save lives. They could be pilots, or engineers, or C.E.Os.

Even getting the chance to teach these children will fulfil my goal in life, which is to leave the world and society in better shape when I leave than when I got here.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
