Whether or not we want to admit it, the majority of us cannot function without our smartphones. And what makes these phones so smart? Apps. I’ll admit it, I love apps. Apps have made my life so much easier. Apps help me to organize and keep track of my school work, health, social life, to just name a few.
The function of most apps is to be able to multitask in our fast paced world. As a college student, I am all about anything that can help me keep track of my many to-do lists in a way that is quick and simple. Apps get automatic bonus points if they possess the convenience of having everything in one place, too!
In my quest to find convenient apps, I recently discovered the iMadison app. iMadison is the new unofficial JMU app developed by CIS senior Brian Chambers. This app was just released this month and includes many useful features for JMU students and faculty. iMadison has a full bus schedule, organized by route like the popular JMU Bus App. Additionally, this new app has a section for on-campus dining. This section includes the hours of operation for each dining location, an interactive map, and an easy green or red paw print indicator to see when a place is open or closed. The app has a section that tells you how many spots are available at each of our parking decks. There is also a “Buildings” section that includes a list of all of the buildings on campus. When you tap a building, it will bring you to a pin in an interactive map of the location of each building so you can see where you need to go.
I think this app is great for all JMU students. Even as a senior, I find myself not knowing where certain buildings are and it is nice to have an easy way to look up locations. I find the parking decks feature to be fantastic. As someone who drives to campus almost daily, it is nice to be able to see how many spots are left on all of the parking decks from any location.
I recommend JMU students download the app. It’s a convenient way to stay updated on the daily functions of JMU and help you get through your days smoothly. Go purchase the app and like the iMadison App Page on Facebook! And yes, I said purchase. It's 99 cents, you’re fine.
