I want to travel and explore the Seven Wonders. I want to stick my toes in the Mediterranean and go on a safari through South Africa. I want to go to Romania and teach all the children about Jesus, but I stay in the States. I had the chance to go to Costa Rica and put my feet in the black sand, but I stayed in the States. I’m scared, therefore I stay in the States. It isn’t my lack of funds; I’m not scared of being abducted and my father having to go all Liam Neeson on everyone; I'm not worried about getting hurt and having to go to a foreign hospital; getting sick from their water or struggling to find food I like isn’t keeping me away. I’m scared of going to these places and falling in love. Falling in love with the people, the land and even the animals. Falling in love and never wanting to leave. Never wanting to come back home. Adventures have always been one of my passions, my room is covered in maps with push pins marking locations I have been.
My greatest desire is for my world map to be completely covered in push pins. Having pictures and memorabilia from everywhere I have traveled and having my person to experience it with. My love for traveling has grown since I’ve found my person to go with me, to see the joy he has as we explore the world together. My passport will be filled with stamps and my heart filled with love as I experience the culture the world has to offer. I’m scared of finding beauty in the mountains and the oceans and not wanting to return. I love the atmosphere, the noise and the culture of every country in the world. I hope to travel to all the places I’ve seen in pictures and visit the locations from my favorite movies. I want to be able to tell my children of my journeys and hope one day my love for travel carries to them. I desire to change these wants to haves, to make these dreams happen with the one I love; to perceive the world through my own eyes and not pictures I see when I scroll through my news feeds on social media. I know so many people who have traveled all over the world, and they loved it. They brought me pictures and gifts from their adventures (which I also loved).
I’m tired of being jealous of all the memories they have created with friends, family or even by themselves. I haven’t been one to travel, I tend to stay busy in my own hometown, but I know myself too well to hop on a train going anywhere. My heart would overpower my thoughts and I would never return. I would live out of a suitcase and mediocre hotel rooms if I was able to capture my longing for adventure. I’ve learned life is short and desires must be met, and my desire for travel is never going to leave. I have a heart for adventure and a short time to achieve it. Memories, love stories and lessons are all learned while on explorations, don’t miss a chance to take one because regret is worse than being a few dollars short. Adventure is out there so stop making excuses or being scared and go.
