I personally think being the oldest sibling in my family is so much better than being the middle child, baby, or especially an only child. Although my two brothers and sister drive me crazy sometimes, the arguing and chaos are all worth it. I have had so much fun with them over the years. I can't imagine growing up without them and hope to become even closer in the future. Below are some of the perks of being the oldest child!
1. You have more privileges
For example, I was first to have a car and driving privileges, which was so nice to have in high school. Once my brother got his license we shared the car, but I had dibs.
2. You have your parent's trust/ can be in charge
Being the oldest, I am seen as the most mature and responsible so I have always been trustworthy and capable of bossing my siblings around. I am so good at telling them what not to do.
3. You know more and have experienced more
I was the first child to graduate high school an go off to college, so I am technically "wiser".
4. You influence your siblings/ set a good example
I like to think I have influenced my siblings in many ways, but especially by setting a good example for them. I've done this by doing well in school and overall doing what is right.
5. You don't get hand-me-down clothes
Last, but not least, I always got my own clothes and never had to share.
I am so grateful to have three younger siblings and miss them very much.
