Misunderstandings.
The worst feeling in the world.
Bricks on your back that you just want to pack,
Pack up and throw away.
Tagged for what you’re not. Framed for being different from the pot
But that pot they hold is not the pot of gold that can understand everything.
That can understand us.
We are complicated human beings.
Do not judge us for our glory
Or for the beginning of our story
His SAT scores- not your worry
The problem is that we’re always in a hurry
Flying by and waving past what other people feel
Maybe that’s why we have an inability to heal
Because we do not take the time to understand that we misunderstand.
Misunderstandings.
They don’t hurt the judger but the judged.
The person trying to forget what he once was
Forgiving himself for his past but you come along, driving fast
Telling him he is what he was
Telling him to remember what he did not what he does
And it rubs him the wrong way
He no longer has words to say
You took all his strength away
You see sometimes we forget our power
That our words can tear down towers
Towers that others spend so long trying to build
And all in one second it is torn down
No more sound.
Misunderstandings.
Ask don’t tell
Question and don’t mention
Wasteful thoughts of the past
Because we are in the future.
Doing what we can to be a suture
To the tearing the flesh of our culture
To strengthen the base of our stature
To look within no matter...
Who we are
Or What we did.
Misunderstandings.
They may break us
But they do not make us
They may sting
But that doesn’t mean
That we can not be defined by more of something
Someone who we can challenge ourselves to be
Something greater than we see
Whatever it is we desire to be
Do not make the mistake of misunderstanding yourself.
Or putting the definition of your future on the self.
Take a look and think about more than your wealth.
Open the book and read yourself
That is when you grow
And be more than a painting on display or a show
Understand who you are and who you want to be
Don’t shy away from defining this, even though it’s scary
Misunderstandings
They are unconventionally unnecessary
They don’t have to exist, we can make them imaginary
As we brush away the roots of their decay and focus on the “come what may”
That is all I have to say.
Misunderstandings.
The worst feeling in the world.
Bricks on your back that you just want to pack,
Pack up and throw away.
So throw them away.
