Recently, I was more or less attacked on twitter for replying to a girl who had made a joke about illegal immigrants. Sure, the joke may have been in poor taste, but it was a joke. I stated that I, "don't have sympathy for illegals." From that tweet, I was told that I am ignorant, privileged and racist.

My boyfriend brought to my attention that in today's world, the simple fact that I was standing up for my beliefs put a target on mine and my family's backs. I don't know if writing an article is much better, but here goes it:

For thinking that people should follow the law, I am a racist. I was made fun of for being white. I was called a "cousin kisser/f***er," a "f***ing white trash c*nt," a "racist christian," an "oppressive f*ck," etc.

Now, I am not here to play victim today, I just thought that a few things should be addressed.

First off, I misspoke a couple times. When I said that I, "have no sympathy for illegals," I meant, it is very difficult for me to empathize with illegal immigrants being deported back to their own country. They knew the risks when they decided to illegally cross the border. While it is terrible that they were trying to escape bad situations, they broke the law.

The next time I misspoke was when someone called, "my people" criminals, and I snapped back that their people were criminals. I don't believe that Latinos are criminals. I believe those that break the law, and cross the border illegally, are criminals.

Secondly, I am not racist. I think that we are all created equally. I do love my neighbor, and I believe that people deserve equal opportunities in this world. It was pointed out that as Americans, we don't care about others – we just want to make sure people who aren't white are kept out of this country.

Well, that's wrong. It doesn't matter what color your skin is. If you are from Russia, Canada, Africa, or Mexico – it doesn't matter. There are still laws, and you still have to come into the country legally or you are an illegal immigrant.

Thirdly, I understand that the immigration process takes years. I get it. Contrary to popular belief, I am not, "ignorant." There are laws for a reason. You have to follow the law. It is black and white. If there is a problem with the immigration process, I am sorry.

Stop whining about the fact that people are living in horrible conditions (while you sit in your air conditioned house, eat organic food/junk food, and tell me all of this behind a computer screen/expensive cell phone), and actually do something about it. Use your energy, money and resources to help those trying to do things correctly – or even donate to charities helping less fortunate people in other countries. I can get behind that. What I can't get behind is you calling me a "c*nt" for my opinion.

I still stand behind the fact that coming to this country should be done legally. Racist, derogatory and just nasty comments and names will not change my position.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
