“You spent how much on those leggings?”
“You’re such a name brand W***e!”
“Basic much?”
These are common phrases I hear every now and then. I usually just bite my tongue because trying to sell my case to someone who doesn’t care is pointless. I’ll admit I’m like the usual twenty something year old, I tend to spend a little too much on clothing every now and then. Here’s the way I see it: I’m single, I work hard for my money, so I might as well spend some of it on myself! Instead of having to buy something four times in one year why don’t you just invest in something that will last?
Yes, I did spend $90.00 on a pair of leggings not for the name thank you very much, I spent it on them because of the QUALITY. Unlike some I buy leggings once or twice a year maximum. I invest in good products so I don’t have to replace them every other month. The store that I get my leggings from has a quality guarantee, so if something happens I can send them in and get a brand new pair. I invest in a pair of leggings because they help me feel confident. Instead of trying to squeeze into a cotton pair of leggings I invest in fabrics that move with my body and form around me to give me an overall better experience. I use my leggings for casual everyday occurrences and working out, that way I get the most out of my money. What it all comes down to is your own comfort, and quality and spending a little more on a pair of leggings is what it takes.
Name brands = good quality. This winter I invested in a down feather parka jacket and I can’t even begin to explain its good qualities. I played my cards right and I personally feel like I got the most for my money. First I looked around. I went to department stores, a second hand seller store, and looked online for the perfect jacket. I compared fake down to real down and overall the price difference wasn’t super drastic. Knowing that I decided since I was investing in a long term jacket I might as well spend a little extra on the down feather. Once I found the perfect jacket I looked online and in a few stores to price compare. I happened to find it on sale for 25% off so I got it! In that specific story the name brand happened to be the best quality jacket. I invested in a jacket that will last me at least five or so winters that way I I can honestly say I did get my money’s worth. Sometimes name brands are the better quality.
I use to think being called a” basic girl” was funny. I would laugh along with people and even crack some jokes about myself... Until one day I had someone actually judge me for it. They told me I was “too basic” for them. It was an eye opening experience because it made me realize that sometimes calling someone basic can be judgmental. Being judged for how I dress, what I like and dislike, and my overall sense of being hurts. Sorry I like a pumpkin spice latte in the fall. I’m sure you have your favorite seasonal choice of beverage as well. Sorry I invest in a good pair of boots to last a few winters. I’m sure you have your favorite pair of boots. Call me basic, I really don’t care and I’ll laugh along. But judging me for the way I dress, or my likes and dislikes, is just immature.
