I'm Done With Hollywood

Hollywood is toxic to society and I'm not going to be apart of that.

Oh Hollywood, a land of dreams for movies and music and all things magical. I'm over it. I'm over Hollywood, actors and especially award shows, here's why.

Actors are paid way too much. The get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars because we're all suckered into watching movies about magic and romance and tragedy. People, magic, romance, tragedy, adventure is out there for US to experience in the REAL WORLD and the best part? We don't have to pay to see someone pretend to it. It's more fun to see random people doing something extraordinary or living out your own bucket list. Actors are also get too much attention. They claim to be "ordinary" and "just like us" but no, they are not. Ordinary people do not get paid millions and over adored, or have thousands of followers on Instagram. Why does society follow celebrities on social media? So we can see Kylie Jenner is in her underwear or Selena Gomez is on vacation in some exotic country? But here we are, the "ordinary" people going to work, taking care of our families and hoping we're saving enough money so someday we can go on vacation to Disneyworld. Guys, they are not normal people. What is so special about celebrities anyway? When you think about that, I guarantee you'll realize they are only "special" because we give them the power and are just jealous they have money to spend on luxuries. That leads me to my next point.

Award shows need to end. Why do actors who are already famous and rich get a show to award them for being "awesome"? I do not care that Leo won an Oscar. Sure he is a great actor but what else has he done beside that? Award shows should be rewarding people, famous or not, who go above and beyond. Why do we not give recognition to those people who have donated money to find a cure for diseases or trying to change a law against cyberbullying? Those people are doing more than just making great entertainment. I will not be watching any award show, whether it's the Oscars or Country Music Awards, you can find me doing something better with my time.

My next grievance with Hollywood's role in society. Hollywood, the movies, the music, the fashion; its putting unrealistic standards into women's minds. The majority of actresses in Hollywood are skinny, perfect skin, long legged, sexy women. But not everyone is that way but society worships these women, leading young women to grow up thinking that's how they should look. That's just not right. Throughout recent years there have been improvements here and there within fashion, music and movies, but not enough. I would love to see a female actress who has thick thighs and average sized boobs kicking ass and not being sexualized. I'd like to see a man who has a few extra pounds not being the comedic joke the entire movie.

All in all, I'm done with Hollywood. It's given too much power ruling over society and we're too dumb to realize it. So please, if you find you can agree with one thing in this article, then join me in boycotting Hollywood. Unfollow those pointless celebrities like the Kardashians. Stop watching the award shows and Entertainment Tonight. Don't head to the movies for premiers, wait for it to come on TV or Netflix (saves you money anyways!), don't buy their clothing lines or makeup brands. Pay attention to brands and people who are helping to make a difference in society. Go out there and make your own movie in life!!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
