There have been many times when I look back in my life and realize that I haven't done some things because it's not what someone wanted from me. I also look back and wonder what my life had been like if I had chosen what I wanted instead of letting others walk all over me and pick for me. Well from now on, I choose me.

I'll choose me when it comes to class. What will I be when I grow up? What I want. Not what would make me and my future husband enough money. Not what will be the best looking to all the people I went to school with. Not what will make me the most valuable to others. What I want because I deserve to do something that will make me happy. I'll choose me.

I'll choose me when it comes to weekend plans. What am I doing this weekend? What I want. Not what will make me look more fun. Not sitting at home because I don't want certain people mad at me. Not missing out on life because someone thought they were more important than the things I love. I'll be going out and dancing all night long because it makes me happy. I'll choose me.

I'll choose me when it comes to who I will love. Who is that person I am dating? Who I want. Not who my parents would approve of. Not someone who will make everyone jealous. Not a person who doesn't deserve me. I will date someone who makes me happy and treats me like I am the person they have waited their entire life to find. I'll choose me.

So from now on I am not living my life according to other people. I am going to make my decisions to make myself happy and the people who deserve to be in my life will be happy for me no matter what I choose, because I'll choose me.
