As a New York native, no matter where I travel to in the world I am always relating it to home. Recently, I made a dramatic move across the country to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of being a professional photographer. Over the past few months of living here, this is what I most frequently find myself missing about New York:
1. When you’re walking and people just don’t walk fast enough.
No matter how much you try to slow down, you're always the person whose 10 ft ahead of your friends.
2. The pizza.
You'll eat it, but let's be real- nothing compares to that $1 corner slice.
3. All the rest of the food.
You can't just cross the street and have five different lunch options.
4. You miss the public transportation.
You run into the subway car as fast as possible to get a seat and think of it as a pain in the butt when you're home. But when you don't have access to the subway, you end up spending way too much money on Uber.
5. You've mastered the art of getting through a crowd.
You have no problem maneuvering through a crowd because of the stressful moments you've experienced walking through hundreds of tourists in Times Square or the subway platform during rush hour.
6. The loud honking and beeping.
The noises you've fallen sleep to are suddenly not there anymore.
7. And the city lights.
Last but not least, you miss the city that never sleeps more than anything and can't wait until you get to make a trip home!
