Our presidential candidates are certainly characters, to say the least. Even more so than in election years past. In fact, they certainly do remind me from the characters from one of my all-time favorite TV shows. Here's how your 2016 presidential candidates are like the characters from "The Office."
1. Donald Trump: Dwight Schrute
A lot of people like Dwight, including Dwight. He says things quite frequently which seem to surpass "questionable." Sometimes it seems like he's a little out of touch with reality. He's obsessed with winning and being the best. We wonder how he has the success he does, but he sure has it.
2. Marco Rubio: Jim Halpert
Jim is probably the most normal and just naturally likable guy in "The Office," similar to Rubio's vibe in the candidacy. He's reliable, hard working, and an all-around good guy. And as the seasons go on, he starts learning how to mess with Dwight, similar to how Rubio is learning how to mess with Trump.
3. Ted Cruz: Andy Bernard
An Ivy league graduate, Andy Bernard is clearly brilliant just like Cruz. Their personalities can come off a bit geeky, but they both really do know their stuff. And they will be extremely persistent and passionate about getting their goals accomplished, and you will not be able to miss it.
4. Ben Carson: Pam Beesley
Pam is the sweetest, as is Carson. They're both easy to like, but just like Pam overstayed in her relationship with Roy, Carson is overstaying his time in the candidacy.
5. John Kasich: Darryl Philbin
Darryl is a likable guy with a lot of common sense. He's a pretty neutral figure, which is similar to Kasich's more moderate policies. Neither seem to get quite as much attention as other characters/candidates, but both have a clear head on their shoulders, and know how to get the job done.
6. Hillary Clinton: Jan Levinson
Hillary and Jan both love a good pantsuit. Both are very strong feminists and powerful female leaders. However, their track records ultimately don't shine them in the best light.
7. Bernie Sanders: Creed Bratton
Creed is quite the character who marches to the beat of his own drum, just like Bernie in his policies and campaign style. Creed would also be oh-too-glad to support the legalization of marijuana. They seem to have come from the same era and style of thinking.
There you have it. And now just the one question remains: Which character will leave Dunder Mifflin and make it to the White House?
