If Nerd Slam ruled the Internet, these five poets would top my list for their super nerdy, super geeky poetry! Feel free to share your own favorite nerdy, geeky, wonderful poems in the comments!
1. "In a Too Small Kitchen" Sam Mercer
(Granite State Poets)
Do you like Hulk? Ever think about the Hulk making breakfast? Sam does and it never fails to put a smile on my face.
2. "I Am Nerd" Omar Holmon
(Urbana Poetry Slam)
Omar gets the crowd going and going with how nerdy he is. He also sings a bit of Kelly Clarkson. Live long and prosper, Omar!
3. "Fantastic Breasts and Where to Find Them" Brenna Twohy
(Button Poetry)
Feminism + Harry Potter + Poetry = Brenna Twohy's genius poem. Forever a favorite, this poem empowers and encourages and hands a bit of magic to each listener.
4. "The Geek Wants Out" Ernest Cline
(Rafael Segabinazzi)
You know the author of "Ready Player One?" That's Ernie Cline! This poem was introduced to me back in high school and fundamentally changed the way I looked at Geeks. (P.S. I also want my own Tardis!)
5. "Nerd Sex" Wonder Dave
(Vancouver Poetry Slam)
Is it really sex or is it a quest? Wonder Dave explains what sex with nerds is really like and it sounds pretty epic.
BONUS: "Applied Mathematics" Dan Simpson
Dan is a wicked awesome British poet who does podcasts about video games and hosts poetry slams. He also has a book by the same title and it looks like the coolest math book ever.
