For all students at K-State, summer is just one month away. I am (not so) patiently waiting for my last final to be over with, so I can finally relax and take a break from school. Here are some ways you can have the best summer yet when you have no clue what to do…

1. Go on a road trip

I realize that everyone may not have the money to just take off and head to the beach, myself included. But that shouldn’t stop you from making a short trip to the city. Running off to Wichita or KC for a day or two has always been my go-to for a quick get-away. You’ll end your boredom streak and come back feeling lighter after having a little bit of fun for a weekend.

2. Plan a family weekend

Hanging out with the fam is always my favorite thing to do. Plan a trip to visit them or have them come spend the day with you wherever you are.

3. Go fishing

If you’re a big outdoors person like me, fishing is a great way to spend the day. Even if you think sitting there waiting on a fish is boring, it’s better to be bored sitting outside at a beautiful location than at home.

4. Take in a new hobby

This could be anything from learning to play an instrument or my favorite: painting even though you’re no good at it.

5. Go to the zoo

Because what’s better than seeing all kinds of adorable animals?

6. Go hiking

If you’re stuck in MHK for summer, the Konza would be a great place to spend a summer day. If you’re not into hiking, try a walk around the park.

7. Get together with friends and take fun pics

Take advantage of the nice summer weather while it’s here. Grab some friends and head to the prettiest place you know and take some pics.

8. Buy a pizza and go to the park on a late-night picnic

Anything involving pizza is always a good idea.

9. Go window-shopping

Even if you have no money, it doesn’t hurt to look around, right?

10. Head to the waterpark or the gym

The waterpark is always the spot to go in the summer. Even if you aren’t a swimmer, laying in the sun getting a tan can be just as relaxing. If you find yourself wanting some indoor activity, hit the gym and make some gains.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
