I voted for Donald J. Trump. There, I said it. I'm not ashamed of the fact, and if you ask me, I'll tell you. I looked at the candidates, I chose the one that best fit my ideals, and I voted. I went out, exercised my rights as a legal U.S. citizen, and I voted for him. I believed in the changes he wanted to make, and I believed he was the best fit for our country's needs at this point in history.
So, I purchased a red hat, a "Make America Great Again" hat, and I wore it proudly anticipating Inauguration Day.
Since the inauguration, I have seen real change. I have seen the struggling of American workers decrease within my own community. The Trump Administration has accomplished so much for the good of America. You can't argue that creating millions of jobs for American citizens is a bad thing.
The unemployment rate is the lowest in almost 50 years. Major improvements in minority employment have made for some of the lowest unemployment rates of Hispanic Americans, African Americans, and Asian Americans ever. Millions are coming off of food stamps, taxes have been lowered, and veteran unemployment is declining.
These are good things for America.
These are noble accomplishments.
Because he has kept his promises, I continue to wear my red hat.
I wear the hat to show my support for a man who has supported my country. I wear the red hat proudly because I have seen great things happen in my own community and around the nation. I wear the red hat knowingly and with little regard for the judgment, I am under when I wear the red hat, because I believe in this president, and I believe in the betterment of America.
This president puts Americans first, and contrary to popular belief, that is his sole priority. The president's duty is to the security and prosperity of his country and her people. No other country will look out for our own interests more heavily, more purely, and more completely than our own, and it's time more Americans started to come to terms with this.
It is a shame though, that some people would choose to belittle, attack, and slander those who wear the red hat. The red hat is a symbol of my belief and the beliefs of many who voted this president into office. It is an expression of our ideals and our values and serves as a proud emblem of what we fought so hard to achieve.
Whether you support the red hat and what it represents or not, nothing gives you the right to treat another human being with such little respect and aggression. So please, have respect for your fellow Americans and let us wear our red hats in peace. One person's freedom does not end where your opinions begin.
Election time will return soon enough, and the decision will be laid into our laps once again. So, educate yourselves on the candidates. Take inventory of your own beliefs and values, and find the presidential candidate that lines up with your own.
Do not let anyone family member, political party, friend, teacher, or celebrity tell you what's right for you. No one is in your position but you, and you understand your needs more than anyone else does.
Let's keep America great!
Sincerely,
A hopeful American
