I transferred high schools and don't regret it.

I moved from my original high school that I went too from kindergarten too 10th grade. Then moved basically down the road to my new high school for 2 years, and it still is the best decision ever.

I always dreamed about one day moving from the typical "small town school" to a private school where you had to care a little bit more than you used too and wear polos with that "S" that looked like Superman designed it, but I never did expect the opportunity to land in my lap. One day my dad and I went out to eat for dinner where he sprang an idea on me. I immediately wanted to shout "YES OF COURSE," I mean after all it was my dream, but then I started to think, I'm gonna lose my social life, my friends, but most importantly, what I have known my whole life.

The day finally came, I was anxious, happy, but yet sad all at the same time. I was leaving my friends behind and going on what felt like an adventure. I put on the blue polo with the red "S" outlined in white, got my jeans and belt on, tucked in my shirt then headed out to what was gonna be my new home.

When I first got there, five girls came up to me and started a conversation with "we know everyone at this school, you must be new!!" then they would happily state their names and me, of course, would spit my name off and ask them where to go. It wasn't this big scary school, in fact, it looked like two storage containers with students filling in going to the gym. Needless to say those five girls stayed with me most of the day.

As the year went on, those five girls turned into ten then 15 then 20; then I started meeting their friends and their friends friends. Then my old school seemed like a distant memory, something I'm glad I came from, my old school shaped me into the person I am today, my new school just filled it with so many memories.

Although every day wasn't easy peasy lemon squeezy (I love saying that), and I did have some nights where I questioned to myself "why in the world did I ever come here?" or "These people are so not what I expected, maybe they are just like me?" I would not trade anything in the world for these people. You met everyone and even the teachers that you never got taught by will still be there to talk or just be a quiet place(Mrs. Franklin is the best for these).

Then came senior year, taking your drapes, making your parents feel old because their baby is about to graduate in less than a year. Although I looked forward to graduating and going to the best college ever(#hailstate), I only had one thing on my mind, football season. Football is one of my favorite sports ever(ties with baseball probably) I remember getting on the bleachers where the students stood. It was those 15 friends and me, they brought their friends, and that created(or recreated) the legendary Simpson Academy Student Section. It wasn't easy, sometimes it was not cheap, but over the weeks we got it rolling, and got the flag running up and down the sidelines singing Ushers "Yeah!" to the top of our lungs. It was nights like these we lived for. It is nights like these that make senior year the best thing ever.

Then came post-season football, where the crowds got louder and more significant and the stakes got higher every single week. We fought, grit our teeth, had one too many close games. But somehow we managed to make our way to the big stage, the state championship(the header pic is our last and final 2018 student section pic ever) the game is tied, so we go into overtime. Not long after our hearts are crushed, we lose in OT. Everyone has their heads down, crying, or could not bear it anymore, so they left.

Although we struggled, we struggled as a school, as a class, as friends. And these friends I know I will bring throughout my life. They have seen my at my high and my lowest too. They know that I did not have the best of friends like I thought I had before, but they lifted me up, gave me new friendships and hope for more in the future.

Transferring schools can be scary and even will be scary in some way. But if you can show your new school and potential new friends what your made of, nothing can stop you, and you will forever be grateful for your school and friends. Although we babbled and eventually grew tired of the polos and jeans and broke a few rules, we have the best memories ever, and I would never trade them or Simpson Academy for anything!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
