I Have No Motivation

Way too stressed to function...

I Have No Motivation

It's that time of year where the sun is out and the days are longer and all I want to do is tan and go to the beach with friends. The problem with it finally getting warmer and spring fever being at its peak, it falls at the same time as finals.

Let's face it, some of us view finals as another test and we only need one maybe two days of studying for each final, but once we finally sit in that lecture hall with the blue books we know that maybe we should have tried a little bit harder.

Tanning and hanging out in the Court of Carolina is all anyone ever wants to do during the warmer days, but this is the time of year where professors pile on work and assume that the only class you're taking is theirs. You want to complete the work but you also want to go to concerts and the beach with your friends. You keep telling yourself you'll read tomorrow, you'll write that paper while you tan or my personal favorite, you'll wake up early and start the assignment.

I have no motivation and therefore nothing seems to get done until 10 minutes before the deadline. I would have thought I would get my life together when I procrastinate over and over again but I guess in my mind it seems to be working just fine.

I know from personal experience that cramming is only so helpful when you're going on the fourth test in four days and you're not even sure when you ate or slept last. The stress of finals for me almost makes me want to give up and not do anything at all and that's where my lack of motivation really puts me in a tough place. I learned quickly that the worst thing you can do is lack sleep, because that last test will be the hardest one to get through. I remember taking a calculus exam at 8 a.m after 3 days of consecutive tests and actually falling asleep during the exam and waking up with 30 minutes left and still only on the first problem set. Let's just say the exam didn't go to smoothly and my GPA reflects it.

Taking all that into consideration though I still have no motivation but I'm so stressed out about my grades and finals and how my parents tell me I'm not coming back to college at the first sign of a C. Yet all the stress from the end of the semester has just made it impossible to concentrate and get anything done. So let finals season begin and the high of caffeine rule our lives for the next month, all in hopes of pulling out that A in a class we may or may not have a clue of what's going on.

Good Luck.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
