Carol Stream, Ill.: A small suburban town mixed in the middle of larger suburban towns. A place I call home.
These are reasons you know you're from Carol Stream:
Village Tavern
Famous for their chicken tenders and honey mustard, Village Tavern is a staple in Carol Stream. I can't go there without running into at least one person I know.
Glenbard North High School
Right in the heart of Carol Stream. The Panthers are known for football and wrestling. The varsity wrestling squad captured the DuPage Valley Conference title for their 18th year straight. Every Friday night in the fall you can expect the home side of Weber Field to be packed with loyal Panther fans. We all bleed black and gold!
The Fountain
The place where all eighth grade dance and freshman year homecoming pictures were taken. Located in our "downtown," everyone has dipped their feet in the fountain at least once.
"Downtown" Carol Stream
Downtown Carol Stream consists of a local hot dog place, a chain and local bar style restaurant and the Carol Stream Ross Ferraro Town Center. Not much compared to surrounding towns such as Wheaton, Naperville or Geneva. Still, though, there's nothing like watching fireworks on the Fourth of July in the Town Center.
McDonald's
Located on County Farm Road, it is sure to be packed every Friday night after a football game. Even if it's not after a big game, McDonald's can be a good place to go to hang out with your friends at 2 a.m. in the summer.
Armstrong Park
I spent countless summers here, either watching my brother play baseball or playing softball myself. Every kid that grew up in Carol Stream played some sort of sport at Armstrong Park, whether it be football, soccer, baseball or softball. Even if you haven't played a sport here, you rode your bike here in middle school to hang out with your friends.
Kuhn Road
As my brother always says, "I wish Kuhn went on forever." Another classic in Carol Stream, Kuhn takes me where I need to go. Whether it's to go to Bloomingdale's or my best friend's house, I drive on Kuhn every day when I'm at home.
