Step 1: Organize your work space
First things first, you want to clear up the clutter that has accumulated. How can you write a 10 page paper on a messy desk? Organize your books and folders by class and throw away any trash on on your desk. While you’re at it, you should probably pick up all the empty water bottles that are littering your floor. At this point, you might as well pick up the rest of your trash and take it out to the dumpster. Then since all the trash is picked up, just go ahead and pick up the dirty laundry you have thrown everywhere. Hell, make your bed while you're at it too.
Step 2: Refuel
Now that your room is clean, you’re one step closer to finishing that essay. Unfortunately it’s hard to focus when the last meal you had was basically an eternity ago (two hours is an eternity, right?). Your healthy roommate might advise you to grab a granola bar and a bottle of water for a study snack but does that really sound appetizing? Go ahead and hit up the local T-Bell for some tacos and Cinnabon Delights to fuel your body (and soul).
Step 3: Squeeze in one more episode
Obviously you don’t want to drip taco sauce on your laptop so you might as well turn on Netflix while you indulge in your Taco Bell feast. Don’t be alarmed if you finish eating before the episode is over. No one will hold it against you for watching until the end. And if the show ends with a cliffhanger, you go right ahead and watch that next episode… No judgement.
Step 4: Rest
Preparing yourself to write an essay or to finish as assignment is just as stressful as actually doing the work. We’ve all been there and we respect that you’ve shown the initiative to at least start on your assignments. You deserve to rest so do yourself a favor and take that half hour nap. College is difficult and you simply cannot perform your best if you’re tired!
Step 5: Write your essay in 45 minutes
Well… Shit. That half hour nap turned into a four hour nap and now it’s 11:15 P.M. You’re probably freaking out but honestly, is this really the first time you’ve ever had to write an entire paper in 45 minutes? You’ve done it before and you can do it now. Sit down and start typing your little heart out. Good luck!
