You finally made it! Winter break! Finals are over, classes are beyond done and you have a month to relax. But how do you survive a month without your #fam and your #rideordie?!
- Sleeeeeeeeep! You are a total tiger! You just survived a whole semester of classes, finals, parties, drama and cafeteria food! It’s time to make up for all those nights spent in the library, out with friends, or let’s be real binge watching netflix. You earned a sleep in! You earned naps! you earned early nights in!
- Hug your parents! You’ve been way too busy to talk to them this semester and they totally miss their kid! Hug them squeeze them, ask them about their lives. They love you support you and probably pay for your school anyway. You’ll be back at school before you know it, cherish the time you get to spend with your family before you have to leave them again!
- Hug your siblings! While you’re at it loving your parents might as well Be a #cool older sibling and take your baby bro/sis to a movie or shopping. Make them feel special and show them how much you care about them. Make memories you both can hold onto while you’re away at school.
- Hug your home friends. Keep riding the love boat dude. You have friends from home that you never get to see while you’re all away at different schools! What a coincidence that you all are home for the holidays! Get the gang back together and swap old memories, new college stories, and make new ones!
- Pinterest is calling! And you really should answer! All those DIYs you pin during the year but never have time for are waiting for you. Dig into DIY room decor for next semester or room organization for home. Christmas is coming fast and you are 50 shades of broke and out of ideas. Pinterest has it all for you, from shopping lists to DIY gifts it’s all ready for you. This is also a great way to stave off boredom and be productive!
- Clean and organize! Your room at home is full of junk. You know it, I know it, your parents try not to bug you about it. Those clothes in your home closet: what are they? If you don’t have them at school why do you need them? You clearly don’t want to wear them or be seen in them so get rid of it! Declutter to your heart’s content! It’s so therapeutic and makes your old room feel like yours again!
- FaceTime is your bff. Why? because it connects you to your bffs! You're minus your fam for a whole month! Chatting face to face is the perfect solution to missing them. Tell them all the fun things you’ve been doing, show them your Pinterest projects, and your perfectly organized room! Tech like this makes the world 10x smaller. (also Snapchat)
- NETFLIX! You’ve already caught up on sleep, so it’s time to catch up on all your fave shows. At school Netflix can feel like a guilty pleasure, now it can be on your todo list! Bonus: there are a bunch of fab holiday movies on Netflix and online in general. grab so hot chocolate and get in the spirit!
- Boooooks! Like everything else reading is something you love but have a hard time fitting in during the year. Find authors or genres you are interested in and keep your brain from turning to mush over break! I personally am reading David Sedaris’ "Let’s Explore Diabetes With Owls" and Khloe Kardashian’s book is next on the list.
- Cook! You have all your mom’s weird appliances that all do the same things slightly differently from every decade at your disposal. Why not use them? Make dinner for your family. Try some new recipes in the safety of your house so when it all goes wrong mom can fix it! Cooking can be really creative and fun. I love experimenting with old recipes and making them my own.
- Explore. Chances are your hometown has changed while you were gone! Go see what's new! New stores in the mall, new restaurant, new bar. Make your home yours again! OMG I almost forgot. Christmas lights. Go find them.
- Work out. Hahahaha yeah right. This is your vacation so do what you want. I guess if you’re a total gym rat or a college athlete then whatever, be healthy and fit and hot. Maybe this isn’t such a bad idea. If you wanna work out then yes! You have the time so do it! but if you don’t, no judgement from me.
Happy Holiday dudes.
