Let's be honest, change isn't something that is easy to adjust to. I personally have always been the kind of girl who can't even decide what to eat for dinner, so I was completely overwhelmed and stuck when it came to choosing a place that I'd call home for four years. For those who are indecisive like me and are struggling with making the right choice, here are some tips for you to consider.
1. If you haven't visited the campus, then I urge you to do so immediately.
There's a huge difference between looking at a campus on the Internet and actually experiencing it firsthand. While nearly all campuses appear beautiful online, they are completely different in person. When walking around an actual campus, you can witness current college students as they attend classes and socialize with their classmates, which will ultimately provide you with a better idea of what attending a particular school would truly be like. By visiting a variety of campuses, I was able to eliminate some of my school choices based on how I felt while walking and envisioning myself as a student there.
2. Keep in mind that this decision will not only financially affect you while you're in college, but also in the future.
While it's easy to get caught up in loans and debt, it's important to remember that these financial burdens eventually add up. Regarding whichever college that you choose to attend, make sure that you assemble a plan on how to pay off the money you invest so that you don't end up drowning in your debt.
3. While keeping the other tips in mind, continue to follow your heart.
When it came down to ultimately deciding which school I would select, the most important question I had in mind was, "Which school made me feel most like I was at home?" As a student, it's essential to know that you're attending somewhere you feel like you belong at. When contemplating on which school I should go to, I had the best feeling about Syracuse University -- and boy, was I right. Don't let others influence your decision because it is one that only you can make. You know exactly what you seek and desire in a school, so it is necessary that you go somewhere that only your heart tells you to.
Choosing which college to attend is a life-changing decision, but if you do it right, then it is easily one of the best ones you will ever make. Although it's frightening, it is worthwhile and will have an impact on you as an individual and the remainder of your life. I hope the advice that I've offered helps you in some kind of way. Good luck!
