Sometimes, actually following through with your New Year's resolutions can be daunting and intimidating. However, with these simple steps, the process will be more sufficient and more rewarding.
1. Tell someone your resolutions.
Telling someone else about your resolutions makes you more accountable for them. Odds are, the people you tell will be really supportive which will help motivate you!
2. Get a partner.
Take it a step further and find someone to embark on your New Year's journey with you! You can each help each other stay on track by keeping each other motivated. Sometimes it helps simply to have someone to complain with as well.
3. Get a Passion Planner.
This planner is arguably the best planner you’ll ever buy and the best part—you can download a copy for free. This planner helps you get focused, stay positive, and follow your passions. Find it here.
4. Make it a competition.
If you set a tangible goal, you can try to do better every week and compete with yourself. If you have a partner, you can set goals and compete with each other.
5. Reward yourself.
Working toward a resolution, especially one that is long-term that doesn't yield obvious results, can be tough if you don’t reward yourself. It can be little things like a cheat day if you're dieting, taking a personal day, taking a friend out -- anything that will make you happy.
6. Set realistic goals.
While you may have a very broad resolution in mind, you’re more likely to accomplish it if you can think of the steps to getting there. Instead of thinking “I want to travel more,” think of ways to save money, or how to make traveling more affordable.
7. Set a weekly goal.
And stick to it! The hard part about new years resolutions is that it’s easy to put it off. Find small things you can do every week to help you keep your goal in sight.
8. Schedule time for your resolution.
After setting some weekly goals, it's time to actually make a schedule. It’s easy to say everything that you want change, but it’s honestly easier to do nothing at all. If you really want to keep your resolutions, make sure to make time in your week.
9. Change the way you think about resolutions.
Instead of thinking of things you want to change about yourself and getting stuck thinking about the things you didn't accomplish this last year think of things you can do. You can make a jar and fill it with memories and accomplishments. Take more walks or go to the park when you can.
10. Think of things that motivate you.
It's normal to get discouraged every now and again. To combat this, it can help to have an arsenal ready of things you know that motivate you. Find the things that help get you out of bed such as:
A pump up song
A good quote
Inspirational YouTube videos
Writing down your #goals
11. Remember why you made your resolutions in the first place.
Whatever they may be, you made your resolutions for a reason. In the long run, you'll be happy you kept them!
