I am fortunate enough to have a lot of family, especially cousins. I have always been super close to them on both sides of my family. Everyone has the one or two cousins they are closer to, more than anyone else. These are a few things I've noticed with my closest cousins.

1. They will always have your back.

No matter what the situation may be, you know that they will always support you. Whether its beating someone up or getting you your favorite Chic-fil-a shake because they know you haven't felt the best. They are gonna have your back till your old and gray.

2. They know your favorite books, movies, foods, etc.

You may not see your cousins all the time but they always seem to know everything you like (probably due to all the Snapchats you send complaining you want something).

3. You can have the best time, anywhere.

The best thing about cousins is the fun follows wherever you both go. You could be in the most boring atmosphere yet have the time of your lives. Whether it's dancing, talking, or getting into trouble.

4. You experience the "Sleepy HaHa's", whenever you have a sleepover.

If you don't get to see your cousins as much, your sleepovers are the prime time to spend all the quality time together. So you wind up not sleeping until 4 am and because of that, you get the "sleepy haha's". You could laugh at absolutely anything that happens. Suddenly the way they say coffee, has you on the floor hysterically laughing.

5. They know the family dynamic.

Since they are your family, they know the in's and out's of how every family member is. Like how grandma will always ask if she can make you guys food and will keep asking until you say yes. And honestly, you both know the choice was already made for you.

6. They tell you how it is.

You may get caught up in life and forget that the little things you stress about are nothing in the grand scheme of things. Your cousin will always let you know the truth and give you the best advice.

7. It's like right when you were born, you were automatically assigned best friends for life.

You really had no choice in the matter but you are completely grateful for it.

8. Every time you reunite, it's the absolute best.

It could be an hour or five months, every time you see them its hard not to tackle them to the ground from all your happiness.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
