Every single year I look forward to summer only to be overcome with boredom after a few weeks. It's important to catch up on rest, but the summer is the best time to get out and have fun. If you can't think of anything to do, here are some ideas to keep you entertained all summer long.
1. Go to the beach
I know it's obvious, but summer is the best time to go to the beach. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting on the beach for the day with a good book. Take advantage of the beautiful weather!2. Go hiking
Another way to honor the wonderful weather is to go on a hike. The summer is a great time to find a trail and go exploring.3. Take up a new sport
After being stuck inside the whole winter, it's always great to get out and do something active. Try a new outdoor sport to keep yourself active while getting some much needed Vitamin D. My personal favorite is tennis.
4. Learn to cook
This one is especially great if you are in college. It's super helpful to know how to make a few meals for when you're sick of campus food. I recommend looking for one-pan meals. There isn't room for lots of pots and pans in a dorm.5. Try out some DIY projects
I always loved DIY projects because they're super fun to make and usually relatively cheap. It is really cool to make yourself some cool dorm decorations like these DIY straw hangers from Buzzfeed.
6. Write
7. Study
Whether you're prepping for the SAT or the MCAT, the summer is the perfect time to start thinking about these tests. Though these aren't nearly as fun as the other activities, you'll truly thank yourself during the rest of the year when you don't have to think about it as much.
8. Binge watch TV shows
Summer is the absolute best time to binge watch shows on Netflix without having to feel guilty. You don't have homework or exams, so it is completely acceptable to stay up all night to finish a season of your favorite show.
9. Learn to code
No matter what you want to do with you life, it is becoming super important to know how to code. There are a bunch of online resources that can teach you. Even if it is just so you can edit your Tumblr theme, the ability to code is a great skill to have.
10. Do everything you avoided during the year
It's really easy to put of tasks when you're swamp with work and exams, but in the summer, there is no excuse. Personally, I have needed to go to the DMV for about 8 months to finally get my full license, but with school, I just never got around to it. Now you have less on your plate, try and do all the small tasks you can. Not only will it save you time when you're busy, but it will make you feel like you've been super productive.
