It is my favorite time of year again—Halloween time. The leaves are changing, the weather is cooling down and spooky decorations are being put up all over town. Amidst all the chaos of schoolwork, midterms, recruitment week, club meetings and work, it can be tough to take the time to fully enjoy the Halloween season and really embrace the holiday. Since Halloween time is so important to me, I have always made sure to do as much as I can to enjoy the season, despite the craziness of my everyday schedule. Here is how you can too!
Watch a Halloween movie. This is an obvious one, but Halloween movies are surely the best part of the season, right? Gather a group of friends, get some candy and other sweet treats and park it on the couch for the night to enjoy some "Hocus Pocus," "Halloweentown" or, if you are brave enough, "Friday the 13th" or "Halloween." Movie nights are a great way to relax during the busy school year and will surely have you in the Halloween spirit!
Go to the pumpkin patch. This may seem totally cliché, but there is nothing that gets me more in the spirit of fall and Halloween than a trip to the pumpkin patch. Usually, you will find food stands with the most authentic apple cider, pumpkin donuts, fresh apples and so much more. This is always a must-do! Combine it with a hayride or a journey through a corn maze and you will have loads of fun.
Have a pumpkin carving party. This is the perfect follow-up activity after visiting the pumpkin patch. Get your friends to bring over all your great new pumpkins, get some carving tools and combine it with your movie night! Follow a design book or make your own creation and set them out on your front porch to add some fun décor to your home!
Throw a Halloween party, set up a haunted house (or both)! Head over to Dollar Tree for some cheap and easy Halloween decorations and deck out your home. Invite all your friends over to bake fall flavored treats, have a potluck and enjoy the spirit of the season!
These are just a few of my favorite fall traditions that I try and do with my friends each year. Hopefully you will be able to find the time to relax and enjoy some Halloween fun this year, it truly is the best!
