How To Find Your Prince Charming

I’ve always had this picture in my head of how I would meet my prince charming and fall in love. Ever since I was a little girl I had these hopes and dreams of who my future husband (boyfriend) would be. As I grew up I came to realize that I was expecting every guy I met to meet this insane list of requirements that I had made up in my head as a little girl. So honestly I never gave guys a chance if they didn’t at least meet some of the requirements.

Throughout all of middle and high school everyone around me was finding their soulmates; while I was just chilling. I never had any luck with guys at any age really. During high school, I had opportunities to meet new people and go out, but I held myself back. I was stuck on this checklist of things that I thought I wanted and needed in a guy. And if I didn’t believe that he would or could have any of those traits, I didn’t bother. I never gave a lot them the chance that they deserved because I was too focused on planning my future based on something I made up when I was most likely 6 or 7.

BUT.

Let me tell you what happened.

When I started my freshman year of college I had a change of heart. I decided to simply let life happen. I decided not to plan everything out so thoroughly. That way if something didn’t happen the way I planned it I could still be happy and enjoy the moment. I had an open mind and embraced everything life through my way.

Which is EXACTLY what led me to my Prince Charming.

He didn’t come and rescue me, or save the day, but that day he stole my heart. It was in a General Psychology course my first semester of college when I saw him from across the room. That day started our love story.

The funny thing about falling for him was he is the EXACT opposite of the man I thought I would end up with. I thought I would end up someone with the same hair and eye color as me, someone that did the same sports as me, and things of that nature... But boy was I was wrong. I fell for a man that loves nothing but baseball, has beautiful long hair and a full beard; things I NEVER would have thought I would love with everything in me. But that’s the true beauty of our relationship. We compliment each other so well, we are really different, but we are the same person at the same time. I realized my list in my head was so unreal. I actually love how different we are because we get to share and show these new and different parts of our lives to one another.

When I let myself experience life instead of trying to plan out and run my own life, my world actually started to piece itself together. I learned that letting go and allowing yourself to truly live in the moment and not to stress the little things is really when you start living. And I am so thankful I had a change of heart and allowed myself to be open to new experiences. If I would've stayed the same I would have missed out on the love of my life.

What I have gotten from this is that although planning your life out may seem like a good idea it's not always true. I limited myself my whole life because of a list I created when I was little. If I hadn't been so stuck on that then I would've been able to have more fun, meet more people, and be open to new things. Don't let yourself get stuck on a plan, life changes and so do you. One day you might have a certain idea of how you want your future to be, and the next week it might be completely different. Just always have an open mind. Have plans (yes) but live life as it comes your way. Don't fight it, embrace it's twists and turns.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
