How To Deal With Stress In College

When you are in college there are times when the stress of everything around you can become too much. Whether the stress comes from school itself or other experiences you have in college, these factors can add up after awhile and can cause you to explode if you are not properly dealing with them. Here are some ways you can effectively work through your stress and come out a stronger person.

  • Remember you aren’t alone
In college, most student feel the pressure to perform well because not only do they want to get a good job when they are older, but they also are paying a lot of money to learn. It is important to remember that you are not the only one stressing about college or even college related things because there are thousands of other college students just like you.
  • Keep a level mind
    • Yes, you do have a lot of things on your plate but through it all it is important to remember the times you can stress about your problems and times you need to focus on the task at hand. In class for example, you will need to keep a level mind and focus on taking notes and understanding what the professor is saying even though you have a lot of other things on your mind.
  • Take time for yourself
    • When dealing with stress in your life, taking time to be alone and think about how you feel can help you decide what to do and how to solve some of your problems.
  • Relax
    • Although this one seems sort of implied, a lot of people forget how important it is to relax when there is a lot of stress in their lives. Relaxing could be considered anything from watching a movie to taking a bath, whatever it is that relaxes you and gives you a chance to calm down will help.
  • Breathe
    • Stress can cause some people to forget to take the time to take a deep breath. Taking a deep breath will allow you to stop and rationally put your problems into perspective and help you solve them.
  • This isn’t the end of the world
    • These stressful situations can seem to define the rest of your life. But it is important to remember that although choosing where to go to school next year can be stressful, it doesn’t mean your decision is life or death.
  • Talk to someone
    • By this I mean you do not need to necessarily meet with a professional, but even talking to a friend or loved one can help you get some of the stress off of your shoulders.
  • Take things one at a time
    • If you have a lot of stressful situations or dilemmas in your life, you aren’t going to get them all solved at the same time. You need to take time to work out each problem individually before you move onto the next thing.

Stress can be hard to manage in college especially when you are far away from home. But if you use these tips and tricks, you will be able to get through it and make it out alive.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
