How To Conquer A Sunday

Fight off the temptation of snoozing your Sunday away in 8 simple steps.

That dreadful feeling of the weekend coming to an end hits you on a Sunday morning. The worst part is, now you have to find a way to be productive and get ready for the week, when all you want to do is go back to bed and cherish the limited amount of hours until you wake up for your 8:00am class. If you're having trouble figuring out how to (or pretend to) be motivated, here a some tips you might find useful.

1. Make your bed, shower, and get ready for the day

Its much easier to feel motived to get things done when you're dressed for success. No great things come out someone wearing their pj's for the entire day... unless you count binge watching an entire season of Netflix in one day, that is actually pretty great.

2. Create a list of everything you need to do

It is easier to keep track of tasks when they are organized. Listing them all out can make it less overwhelming too - you'll be able to physically see how much progress you're making when you are able to check each assignment off.

3. Move yourself to somewhere without distractions

The library is a great place to start! My personal favorite place is the third floor of the library. The quiet atmosphere and vibe of people getting their work done is enough to motive anyone. If the library is too far of a walk, or the weather is dreary, try to find a study room in your dorm or home dedicated to work-only.

4. Turn off the phone

It doesn't have to be off the entire time, but just off long enough to get you into the groove without being distracted. Once you get into the rhythm of your work, you can check your phone, just make sure you only check it once in a while.

5. Take breaks

We all need a break once a while. The grind never stops, but it does take pauses. Keep yourself refreshed by taking a minute or so to drink water, grab a snack, or take a short walk.

6. One assignment at a time

You're only human. You can't juggle 20 assignments all at once. Take assignments one at a time, so you don't overwhelm yourself. You'll see how easy it is to handle things little by little, instead of taking on a heaping load of work.

7. Plan your week

If you plan your week out all on Sunday, then you won't have to be stressed out over your schedule during the week. When you have classes, work thats due, club meetings, etc., you'll have no time to plan out your days. Getting it figured out on Sunday is the best time of the week to do it.

8. Treat yourself for a job well done

You did it! You managed to have a productive Sunday afternoon. Your week will run a whole lot smoother now and you can relax knowing you have no responsibilities left hanging over you (at least for now). Grab some ice cream, take a hot bath, just treat yo' self.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
