In recent weeks, the music producer known as DJ Khaled has risen to new levels of fame via the popular app Snapchat. The app has two main features: snap chatting and stories.
DJ Khaled reaches his fans through the username @DJKhaled305, posting stories of his daily routine, along with merchandise from his clothing line and motivational quotes. Through Snapchat, he shares with his fans what he deems to be the key to success, his breakfast, jet ski, the sculpture of a lion, hammock, plants and he reminds his fans to “bless up.” His stories are hilarious, crazy and unique, making Khaled a phenomenon. From his stories, he has ascended to new heights of fame, started a clothing line and most importantly, created slang that is now being used frequently in conversation. Every day you should be going out in the world following DJ Khaled’s major keys to success and attempting your best to bless up. By watching DJ Khaled’s stories, here’s what I’ve gathered on how to bless up:
- Eat an amazing breakfast.
- Drink a bottle of water with your breakfast. Khaled always reminds us that it’s important to stay hydrated.
- After breakfast and before you do anything else, water your plants. If you don’t have plants, get some plants.
- Scream at your statue of a lion. This will make you feel like you are the king of the jungle. Don’t question this. Once you scream at a statue of a lion, you will understand.
- Get dressed for your day. A major key to success is a great outfit. On a typical day, DJ Khaled wears a white t-shirt, swim trunks and his own sliders (Another major key; start your own clothinglines so that you can wear what you want to wear). A good idea would be, wear a DJ Khaled phrase on your sliders so that you don't forget your mission in this world. Khaled frequently wears a pair that says, “Bless Up.”
- Get on your jet ski (if you don't have one, ask a friend if you can borrow theirs) and if your friend doesn't have one then you should probably reevaluate your friendship with them.
- Jet ski around for a long time. Make sure your phone is charged just in case you get lost and have to tell your bae that you won’t be home for dinner because you’re stranded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.
- After you return home, it’s time for the elliptical. You should have your playlist ready to go. This is important. If you’re working out on the elliptical for 45 minutes, you should have a playlist that will work for any time of genre you’re feeling that day. Sometimes, you will want to hear reggae, sometimes you will want to hear rap, sometimes you will want to hear opera. Regardless of what you listen to, be on the elliptical for 45 minutes and then tell people about it so they feel proud of you.
- It’s been a long day. It’s time for your hammock, a glass of Apple Ciroc and a good ole cigar. If you’re in a hammock, it’s okay to forget the healthy lifestyle you just started living and telling everyone about 20 minutes ago.
- Throughout all of this, you should say bless up so that people know what you’re doing.
Long story short, it’s quite simple. Khaled’s phrase encourages his fans to be themselves. If you want to bless up, all you have to do is eat delicious and aesthetically pleasing food, wear clothes that look awesome and are comfortable, and fill your day with a good balance of activities that you want to do and the elliptical. It sounds like a beautiful way of life to me. Maybe DJ Khaled is on to something. Bless up, everyone.
