6 Ways I'm Spending My Spring Break

While many college students take this week to go on an exotic vacation or spend time with friends, I'm spending my spring break at home. Not only am I saving money, but I'm taking time for myself, for my family and to recover from a stressful first half of the semester. Here's what I'm doing during break.

1. Catching up on sleep.

When you're in college, sleep becomes less of a necessity and more of an option. Between crazy schedules, club activities and homework, it is very hard to find time to rest. For this reason, I'm taking this time to sleep in before the madness begins again.

2. Eating

Let's be honest, college food sucks. I love going home and eating a nice home-cooked meal. Sometimes it gets out of hand, but it definitely feels great to eat real food again.

3. Binge watching your favorite shows

During school, watching TV or Netflix is often out of the question, so break is the perfect time not only to catch up on all the episode's you've missed, but also to watch the episodes you will be missing when you go back.

4. Seeing old friends

Though I absolutely love the people I've met in college and the lasting friendships I've made, there's nothing greater than coming home to your high school best friends. There is so much to talk about and so much to cram in so little time, it's awesome. There's no feeling like seeing your friends after months and months, and though nothing has changed, being apart is very hard. This is why spending time together, when possible, is so important.

5. Bonding with family

This might not please everyone, but for me going home to my family is really fun. I enjoy spending time with my siblings and my parents, and creating new memories. Living away from home, though great, is tough, and sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on some things. Break is the perfect opportunity to spend time together and bond.

6. Attempting to do schoolwork

Homework is always a touchy subject. I always start break with the best of intensions, but somehow manage to lose the motivation to get any work done. My excuse: break is meant for relaxing, not to do homework. I'll get it done when I go back.

Though spring break, like any other break, is going by way too quickly, I'm thankful for having this time to recharge and refocus.
