In this day in age hiking could be considered an unsung hero helping heal our mind, body, and soul. Sometimes we can take for granted the fact that being out in nature and breathing in fresh air helps our inner selves find some peace and serenity.
I was out hiking at this preserve today and I just looked around and felt at peace. Just looking around at the nature surrounding me remind me that I'm connected with the earth. Being able to breathe in fresh air and filling myself with positive thoughts I was able to be alone with helped me grow a little less stressed about everything that is going on in my life. As a general rule, most of us get so caught up in what is going on in the world around us that we lose track of taking care of ourselves. We are constantly worried about what we have to do an hour from now or two days from now. Its easy for us to forget that we have to make time for ourselves and take care of our bodies, our minds, and our souls. Now, I'm not saying that I am a person who regularly takes time to herself and is in a constant state of zen, because that's definitely not me. This being said, when I was able to take a break, go out into nature and just being one with it helped me put my everything into perspective.
I realized that going hiking helps me physically. We all have crazy schedules which leaves a lot less time for us to go work out or even go for a run most days. When you go hiking you're giving your body the opportunity to grow a little bit stronger and give it a little extra love.
Mentally, hiking helps improve my thoughts on remembering things more and just being able to sort through everything going through my mind. I have to remember if I went turned left or right just so I don't get lost. In addition to this, being able to sort through your thoughts that we tend to shove to the backs of our minds for a later date can really help relieve a lot of stress we tend to have. Addressing whats there and moving past it can take a weight we all have off our shoulders.
Hiking can heal our souls. Just being outside helps feed our soul the earth gives off. It brings you a certain peace that even your bed cannot bring you. You become more connected to yourself and you learn more and more about yourself. You can see the beautiful world that we all live in.
The earth we have been blessed with takes care of us time and time again, even though it is evident our planet is hurting. If we can start respecting our little blue planet a little bit more by making an effort to recycles, use more natural sources of energy, and give it a little love, we'll be able to enjoy it for a while longer.
