How Going Greek Changed My Life

Go Greek!

How Going Greek Changed My Life

My whole life I have always wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. Being from a town who's schools had their cliques, I didn't fit in as much. Then when high school came around, I joined the musical department. I wasn't a total theater geek though, I still did my own thing. I went out with friends on the weekends and had my best friends outside of the club. But when I was going into my freshman year of college, I wanted more. I wanted to be a part of something bigger. Something that would change my life entirely.

From joining a sorority, I gained so much. So much knowledge about our history and finding out that Carrie Underwood is my sister was mind-blowing. You meet these girls who you never even knew. You get to know them, and love them. They become your best friends. They are your sisters.

From going Greek, besides learning about the orgareer and my whole life, I look around and see these girls around me who made it. The four national sororities on campus (including mine), do formal recruitment together. So I was excited to see who were my future sisters.

From going Greek, besides learning about the organization and my sisters around me, I also learned more about me as a person. My perspective on people and situations changed drastically. I became more open-minded and I would think more before I spoke. I became more mature as a woman and was more independent. I am more passionate in my beliefs and stand for what I believe in.

Joining Sigma Sigma Sigma was one of the best things I have ever decided to do in my life. I can't wait for the future ahead of me. I can't wait to get my future little, little little, and so on. I can't wait to see which new sister(s) pick me as their violet. Knowing I can guide those girls into the right direction will set me for life.

So this is for you future potential new members and sisters. Whether you decided to go through recruitment with my sorority or any other one, the feelings will be same. The love you share for it will be the same. And the future excitement and possibilities will be the same and are endless.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
