Planet Earth obtains close to 100,000 plant species and over 8 million life forms today. This very planet that provides nutrients to its inhabitants, however, is slowly deteriorating beneath the pressure of human race.

Why is it so difficult to live in harmony with Mother Earth?

The answer is a long response revolving around the manipulation of a corrupt government. So rather than tail spinning in a grotesque rant on society, I'd rather focus on how we can help save the environment rather than why it needs saving.

Our planet is made up of billions of little ecosystems, all living in the balance of a sustainable earth. They depend on rich soils, a water source, food, and sunlight. These are the four main focal points a healthy ecosystem needs to thrive. Unfortunately, our ecological footprint has counteracted with the delicate balance and has interrupted sustainable life on Earth.

We can change this. It doesn't take a notable genius to realize that it's time to make a change regarding how we live among Mother Earth. If we continue on this same monstrous path of destruction, we will kill the very thing that allows life.

So how do we work towards decreasing our ecological footprint?

The ideal answer would be limiting pollution by riding bikes instead of cars, ban the use of non-biodegradable products, and farming. While we can't just up and change the way society has progressed over the years, we can take steps to creating a healthy environment in our own lives. The best ways to do this can be found in the simplest of decisions in everyday life.

Enveloping Permaculture into society is the best chance we have at saving this exquisite planet. The term Permaculture relates to the idea of building up agricultural ecosystems to where they can be self-sufficient and provide sustainable life. Imagine if every individual took the time to create a healthy, thriving garden in their back yard. The ground would be filled with rich nutrients feeding off each other. Soon inviting a small ecosystem to take place.

The more people that take part in this agricultural movement, the higher the chance of rebuilding the planet to it's once thriving condition. There are so many ways to participate in eco-continuous life on earth. For an example, if you live in an urban area with limited access to greenery, building a garden is probably out of the question. So, take action in other ways! Ride a bike instead of taking the cab up the block. Try to avoid waste by throwing non-degradable products in the trash, where they will soon end up in a landfill, contaminating the ground and air quality. Take action in your community to better this planet.

Earth has the potential of rebuilding herself. However, this will not happen if the biggest populating factor does not contribute by taking steps towards decreasing our ecological footprint. We must learn to walk alongside in harmony, not trump over, embedding the imprint further.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
