I Hope You Grow

I hope you become the best version of yourself.

I hope you grow. I hope you grow into the person you have always dreamed to be. We are constantly changing, but sometimes, we get stuck. That is when you need to think what is best for you in order to grow. Change is scary, but it is what you need in order to live.

As time goes on, the people you've known your whole life change a little bit. Look at it more as the people you have known and loved are growing; just as you are. As I've gotten older, I've learned what the people around me have become passionate about, their adventures, and have watched them really become themselves. You need to step out of your comfort zone. Do things you were always too scared to do. Be the best version of yourself.

Find the people who will help you grow. Always surround yourself with people who bring out the good vibes. Whether it's a significant other, or just a friend, you want that person to bring out the best in you. People who will cheer you on, and pick you up when you're down. If you find that person, or those people, hold onto them.

Everyone grows at different rates. Always remember that; the point is that you are growing. You are constantly learning, becoming wiser (sometimes), and life throws lessons at you everyday. It may not seem like it, but think of yourself six months ago. If it's any situation like mine, I have learned so much about life and myself I'm almost a completely different person.

Never let someone stunt your growth. Never let someone make you feel less special than you are; not a boy, friend, family member. No one. You are a person with goals and aspirations, and you can never let someone take that from you. Grow past any negativity thrown your way, as hard as it may be. I know many people think this sounds stupid. Maybe it does. I truly believe that everyone is constantly growing and will never stop.

There's always the idea of finding someone to grow with you. Two people who build each other up and help each other grow. But it is most important to help yourself grow first. You need to learn yourself before you can fully learn someone else. When you do finally find that person, they can always help you learn yourself even more.

I hope you grow more than you ever imagined you could. I hope you learn, love, hurt, fail, succeed, and everything in between. I hope you let go of that one thing you think you can't let go of. I hope you grow as tall and bright as a sunflower.

I hope you grow.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
