Why Honey Singh's Rhymes Are Anything But Sweet

It's a lot more bitter than that

Yo Yo Honey Singh is the grime and filth in between my toes.

If that sounded harsh, then wait until you hear about what I've got to say on behalf of this wannabe rapper and his self-pretentious attitude. Before I start on that, I would like to warn you to stay away from his music. The distance between him and you exposing yourself to his garbage should be equivalent to the distance between Earth and Pluto. I'm being serious when I say this because just one verse of his songs will decrease your IQ. It's happened to me before, and I absolutely hated myself for listening to that garbage for weeks on end. In addition, I felt stupid for quite a while, thanks to his lyrics. I almost forgot proper Hindi as well (which is not a good thing)!

So, what's so horrible about Singh's lyrics that you should be wary of? Well, the words don't rhyme, whatsoever. He has to make up gibberish words, just for the sake of making it rhyme with the previous line. Right off the bat, this should tell you that Singh has no creative bone within his body. If he did, then his horrible songs and his obvious half-efforts wouldn't be showing through his works. (If you want a sample of one of his icky songs, then here's one called 'Party All Night' and here's the translation of the song. Warning: Keep a Shakespeare book on hand. You'll need it after listening and reading the rubbish lyrics).

Singh also swears, a lot, within his songs, and most of them are R-rated. If anyone would want to play his songs in a public place, then he or she really has to make sure there are no children, or educated and intelligent people lurking around. The reason for not having children around, as I said, is because the swear words used are more fit for adults' ears. If any educated and respectable people were around, then they would be questioning the DJ as to why such rude songs are being played in public. Anyone with a brain can immediately protest and say that the songs are obscene, which would then cause an uproar. It's sad, but as the old saying goes: You can't reason with the ignorant. To put it bluntly, Singh's songs are just hardcore pornography, but even porn itself is insulted next to this man's words. His song, 'Choot', is so out-of-hand, that there are literally no English translations on the Internet. Even people on Yahoo! Answers are scared of typing out the lyrics for fear of younger children reading them!

In relation to the lower-class lyrics, he also writes songs in favor of women's sexuality, as in, he likes females because of their bodies and features, not their brains, wits, or intelligence. If you ever listen to these songs, such as, 'Blue Eyes' then you can get an understanding of what Singh thinks about women, and his other song 'Dope Shope', is addressing women as first hand. If you want more coverage and explanation of Singh's objectification/disrespect of women, then read everything on Quora.

However, don't get me wrong. I'm aware that Eminem does the same thing. He also writes songs using curse words, and has a bit of violence towards women (remember him wanting to punch Lana Del Ray in the face?) These types of references in songs and movies are nothing new, but the difference between Eminem and Honey Singh is this: one knows how to write songs, while the other is plain lazy and uses catchy melodies to cover up the class D, or F, lyrics. Also, Eminem raps out his frustration in steady beats and rhythms, while Singh randomly rhymes and his songs don't have a steady beat to his raps. In addition, Singh "raps" about whatever is in his mind, or whatever he thinks is cool for the society of India. I don't know when he'll learn that none of his works are neither cool, nor acceptable in society, whether it be in India or overseas. But what I definitely know is this: his music, and his own self, need to be taken off of Bollywood. When I was first introduced to this movie industry, I thought of it as a place with smart people and quality movies. No, not anymore, thanks to the introduction of (trash) musicians, such as *cough cough* Honey Singh! If you want the true quality of Bollywood, I highly recommend the following:

Arijit Singh

Udit Narayan

Atif Aslam

A.R. Rahman (this man won an Oscar!)

Shreya Ghoshal (her voice is like melted sugar!)

Sajid-Wajid

Shilpa Rao

Hard Kaur

Sunidhi Chauhan

And there are just so many more other great artists in Bollywood who are worth the time of your life. Just please, abstain from listening to Yo Yo Honey Singh for the sake of your brain! I'm not joking around when I'm saying this because there have been moments where I deeply regret listening to his junk. You'll enjoy the songs from the above artists a whole lot more, plus their lyrics have substance and a backstory, plus a valuable meaning. I've even almost cried to some of the songs written by the artists from the list above. Don't fret though, there are songs penned by the artists that you can also dance to, whether in your room, or in the car. Not all of their songs are weeping genres!

As for the large amount of links, well, I don't apologize for doing that because I want people to discover the educated side of the Indian industry, not the infamous, dumb side. So, feel free to do your research and know what to blacklist and what to accept. I hope you understand what I'm saying, and can spread this message. People like Honey Singh should seriously be banned from the music industry, or be placed with restrictions in the 'Adult' category. His lyrics should never reach innocent, little ears.

I'm not being super radical or anything, again, I want people to steer clear of this artist. He's pretty dangerous!

Have fun listening!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
