The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas break is crammed with stress and finals, but the thing that pushes us through is the thoughts of being home for the holidays. Home is filled with good food, laughs, family, and FRIENDS that will always be there for you. Throughout the years the TV show Friends provides us with so many relatable moments, and they sure know how to relate to being home for the holidays and here are a few reasons why:
1.) You eat... everything
Although it may be hard to eat as much as Joey, the holidays are filled with some of the best food and it only comes around once a year so you feel obligated to eat it all. My favorite food easily becomes Christmas popcorn, candy canes, and literally anything covered in chocolate or caramel.2.) You get love advice from your relatives, whether its welcome or not
When the 16th relative of the day asks you why you are still single it is a little disheartening. I don’t personally struggle with this, but every time I hear it I think to myself hmmm if I was still single I would love to detail out why that may be with you.3.) Your parents ask you to help out with your old chores
Yes, how did you know the things that I missed most include drying the dishes and vacuuming the living room? The worst part is that it’s between semesters so you can’t even use homework as an excuse. Can we all just use Phoebe's logic here?4.) You run into people you went to high school with
This is the break that everyone comes home for, so naturally you run into people you know quite frequently at the store. Of course it’s normally that person you didn’t really talk to in high school, and of course you are apparently their best friend now because you clearly have so much in common. If you're really lucky like Chandler it could even be an ex with a relatively annoying laugh.5.) You are expected to have every minute of break planned out
On the 22nd around noon? Oh actually I think I had a nap and watching Netflix penciled in then, but I will see if I can work that into my schedule between those. I understand that people are just trying to make plans, but as soon as I know what I am doing at that exact time, I’m sure you will be the first to know.6.) You realize you have to buy Christmas presents AND textbooks for next semester
You work when you can, but textbooks aren’t getting any cheaper, break is only so long, and I mean who doesn’t want a million dollars every now and then.7.) Things change while you are away
It’s always interesting to see the new buildings and stores that are built while you are away, but the changes don’t stop there. Your parents also think they can move the furniture and put the Christmas tree in a new place this year without telling you. Crazy situation, I know.8.) You become fairly overly excited for Christmas
The best day of the year, obviously because Santa comes. I mean who wouldn’t be counting down the days? I'm notorious for this one. Give me some NSYNC Christmas carols and I’ll be wishing you a Merry Christmas in June. Christmas is a magical time and it is so nice to spend it at home, sometimes I just can’t contain the excitement and start wishing it to people a little early.
No matter where you spend your holidays, Friends has got you covered with relatable situations. And if you don’t have anything else to do this holiday season there are 10 seasons of friends on Netflix and it would only take you 85-ish straight hours to finish all of them, I mean HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you.
