Winter can seem so boring when it comes to finding things to do. It's more of a challenge to get yourself to go outside and to find motivation to do anything really. Here are some fun, inexpensive date ideas for you and your significant other to try out when you don't know what to do. Indoors or outdoors, these will keep you busy for awhile.

Go to a Christmas movie like the recently released Almost Christmas.

Attend a holiday event in your city’s downtown area.

Jingle in the Junction is a weekend event in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bake Christmas treats while jamming out to Christmas music.

Have a game night with classics like Pac Man, Connect Four or Monopoly.

Go ice skating.

Go to a tree lighting event.

Run a holiday themed 5k together.

Here is a list of the holiday running events going around in the Des Moines area.

Adopt a family together and go gift shopping for said family.

Drink hot chocolate, build a blanket fort and watch old Christmas movies

Get bundled up and go for a short walk on a nearby trail.

If you're a student at Iowa State, a walk around Lake Laverne or campus would be perfect.
