Dear Stranger,
If you’re reading this, know that you are beautiful despite what you are feeling right now. I know things may be hard for you right now, but know that your beauty is not determined by the size of your jeans or what society calls the “perfect body.” I’m not going to say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder because you know that already. Instead, I will say that a beautiful body means nothing if the heart is ugly. Many girls struggle with the feeling that everyone is judging them. We all have moments where our hair isn’t up to par, our make-up could be better, and our skin isn’t clear, but that does not determine the person that you are. Even if you aren’t a size zero, you are undeniably beautiful despite what others may say about you. I know you may feel that you have a right to feel the way that you do because of the media and how women are portrayed in magazines, but it doesn’t mean that you have to listen to those lies. Living in this world, where beauty is everything, it is easy to lose yourself and conform to the “norms” of society, but you must stand firm and remember that you are unique and were made to be you. No one can love you like you can.
"Don't ever criticize yourself. Don't go around all day long thinking, 'I'm unattractive, I'm slow, I'm not as smart as my brother.' God wasn't having a bad day when he made you. If you don't love yourself in the right way, you can't love your neighbor. You can't be as good as you are supposed to be.”—Joel Osteen
It’s time you start wearing the crown that you rightfully deserve to wear because you are beautiful despite what society tells you. Tomorrow is a new day. It’s time that you wake up, look in the mirror, and smile because you deserve to. Always remember that you don’t need a crown to know that you’re a queen; it was imprinted on you the moment you were born.
