Hits From The 2000s That You Forgot About

The 2000s just seemed like yesterday with unforgettable hits, but some songs aren't as remembered as others!

The 2000s were where we discovered that we can talk to anybody through the Internet. For most of us, we needed our parents' permission to log into Club Penguin or Neopets. However, if there is one aspect of the 2000s that left a mark in my memory, it would have to be the music that I listened to. Whether it was on local radio or even watching MTV back when music was played, the 2000s were rich with a variety of music genres that have become instant hints before the times of Youtube! There are some songs that seemed to not meet the quality of a Throwback Thursday jam from Spotify, but once you listen to it; memories of flare jeans and flip phones come running through your head in nostalgia! Here are the hits from the 2000s that most people forgot about!

Time to Pretend- MGMT

MGMT weren't my kind of band when I first heard Time to Pretend, but somehow after constantly hearing it, this song grew on me. It was a new type of music that wasn't replicated back in the 2000s which would eventually become what I like to call "Psychedelic Electronica."

Young Folks- Peter Bjorn and John

I'm certain that we've all forgotten about this song, but once we hear the iconic whistle in the beginning of the song, it would hit us that we used to like this song. To be honest, I searched up that whistle song and this popped up.

Ocean Avenue- Yellowcard

If you've had either a punk or emo phase back in the days, you would've remembered having this song as a guilty pleasure as it can be a sincere, whole song but still have that pop punk element. In fact, this song was a part of this video montage from my 8th-grade graduation.

How Do I Breath- Mario

Mario was such a heartthrob to girls everywhere next to Usher. 2000s R&B music always have that slow jam vibe in any song, and could let guy that plays any song get the girl of their dreams. I've personally haven't seen Mario in the spotlight recently and maybe that's why I forgot about him.

This is Why I'm Hot- MIMS

I honestly couldn't stand this song because everyone in middle school was so obsessed with this song. It's likely because it is the theme for any athlete from the playground to the arena. No seriously, what ever happened to MIMS after this song?

The Great Escape- Boys Likes Girls

I was so ashamed of myself for not remembering this throwback summer hit. "The Great Escape" was the summer anthem back in middle school as we spent simpler times hanging out with friends. Simpler times when we didn't have to adult!

Sunday Morning- Maroon 5

It's clear to see that Maroon 5 has become one of the biggest upcoming bands from the 2000s and I'm surprised that they have yet to perform at the Superbowl Halftime Show yet! Despite all their hits, "Sunday Morning" seemed to be overlooked!

Pressure-Paramore

Just like Maroon 5, Paramore became an instant hit band serving up amazing songs almost every year. It's crazy to hear personally that a lot of people seemed to overlook one of Paramore's early hits such as "Pressure" which was constantly on repeat on my iPod Nano!

I'm certain that I've left out some forgotten tunes, but sometimes our minds just get refreshed once we've listened to a very familiar tone which would eventually take us back to simpler times of Myspace profiles and light-up Heely's. These songs from the 2000s represent a whole decade that has actually passed, which is still mind-blowing for most of us that still think that 90s were about 10 years ago!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
