I got a coupon from Chickfila for a free breakfast one day during my senior year. So one night I decided I would wake up early the next day to get some breakfast at Chickfila before school. The next morning I woke up and got ready and left around 7:30 which is when the bus usually came through the neighborhood. It was raining outside and I noticed this kid lingering on the corner where the bus picks up kids, but he was all alone.
I drove past him trying to decide if I should ask him if he needed a ride and if I thought he had missed the bus. I finally decided why not, it doesn't hurt. I reversed the car and rolled down the window and said, "hey, do you need a ride?" and he said, "no I'm good thank you".
All I'm thinking inside my head is that it's raining and he clearly needs a ride and is probably hesitant with me being a stranger. So I asked him again like he was crazy for saying no and said "are you sure? It's raining...". Then he finally agreed to coming with me.
When he got in the car I asked him if it was ok that I was stopping at chickfila. He said that was fine and that he had never been there before! I let him use my free coupon and got him the famous chicken minis. He thought they were so delicious and couldn't believe what he had been missing out on.
I asked him how else he would've gotten to school that day and he said he would've just walked! He said he's done it before but that is a very long walk. Our high school is about a 15 minute drive, probably a 2 or 3 hour walk and it was raining!
This day reminded me how perfect God's timing is. From the day I got the coupon to the night I decided I would wake up early to the time I left. His plan for each and every one of us is so strategically placed, it is truly amazing.
I can relate this story to many times in my life. One night we had left my grandmas a little late and I was hesitant to ask if we could stop to get a movie because my dad had work early the next morning. I wouldn't have a car the next day and was going out of town with a friend so I decided to go ahead and ask- plus it was on the way home.
As we pull up in front of the video store and park, my dad heard a bang right after I went inside, but he didn't see anything. We left the video store and came up to the same stop light where we would have turned without stopping at the video store. Two cars had crashed and the airbags had gone off. We could tell one of the cars had turned from where we turned. It was so weird to think, how me asking to go to the video store saved us from getting into an accident and I truly felt blessed and could feel God's presence.
His timing is truly perfect. His plan for us is flawless.
It is hard to trust Him sometimes when something bad is happening in your life and all you think is "why would God do this to me", but you truly have to trust him. There is always a reason. Whether that is to prepare you for something else in your future or the situation could actually be worse than it is and you don't realize it. He is incredible and everything happens for a reason.
