Hip Hop has always been influenced by other genres and great sounds. Producers sample songs and remaster them into new beats. Hip-Hop lately has incorporated more Gospel sounds. Chance The Rapper, and Kanye West both play major rolls in the innovation of rap and gospel. These artists use their artistry to reach people all around the world, and spread the good news and sounds. Chance the Rappers latest mixtape Coloring Book features at least 7 out of 14 gospel samples and melodic tunes. Kanye West recent album, The Life of Pablo album Kanye West features 2 out of 19 gospel songs. Both Chi-town artists continue to amaze fans with their diverse sounds. Giving "the kids" something new and beneficial to listen to, something we all can relate to from young to old. There many other artists that include Gospel music just as samples with hard beats, or as a testimony that people can relate to.
1. I Dont F*ck With You - Big Sean ft. E-40
Derogatory song, indeed. But, DJ Mustard, Kanye West, and Mike Free produced this song sampling gospel song "Say You Love Me One More Time" by D.J. Rogers speeded up (chipmunk style).
2. 3 Kings - Rick Ross feat. Dr. Dre and Jay Z
Producer Jake One sampled gospel soul sound I'm So Grateful (Keep in Touch) by The Crowns of Glory. In February 2013, he was sued for using the sample without the proper copyright, or compensation.
3. Jesus Walks by Kanye West
Kanye produced his own track Jesus Walks, with 5 samples. One of those samples being a gospel song Walk with Me by The Arc Choir. Yes, this was all Ye.
4. Furthest Thing by Drake
Drakes producer 40 uses a sample from Corinthian Temple Logic Choir, Hold on for We're Going Home. Quite ironic, considering the fact that Drake has a song called Just Hold On We're Going Home on this Album, Nothing Was The Same. The sample appears at 0:45 on Furthest Thing.
