Why I Am Voting For Hillary Clinton

In a family full of Republicans, I thought it was finally time to share my opinion.

Politics are something I have tended to avoid discussing in the past. However, in college I took a political science class, and it has made me comfortable with discussing my political views. I am sorry to my friends and family who are voting for Trump. This isn’t an article to demean you or make you feel less than I, rather an article where I can express my views.

I’ll be honest, I definitely wanted Bernie Sanders to be the democratic nominee. I totally agreed with everything he was talking about. I never really had a political party I sided with, but my views are definitely liberal and democratic. So when he wasn’t the nominee I looked into Hillary. I agree with almost, if not all, of her political stand points. I really believe that the rich aren’t being taxed near enough of what they should be. How is it fair that the hard working middle class have high taxes, but the rich do not?

I do agree with her on racial and LGBT issues. I think she is the better choice to handle issues such as those. In my opinion, I do not think Trump cares about this country. I believe that Clinton cares about everybody, no matter our background. I also agree on her stance with making college debt free. I see so many other countries who are well off, and they have free healthcare and higher education. Why can’t we have any of those things? Why should I be in debt for the rest of my life just because I want to better myself?

I am super thankful she has a whole stance on women’s rights. For people who think women are not treated as equal s men are, well they need to wake up. Women are paid significantly lower for the same job that a man does. And men still dominate certain work fields. I believe that we need a president who will fight for us women! I agree on her foreign policy. America is a country that was founded by immigrants. The Europeans are the ones who basically kicked the Native Americans out of their own country! Who are we to deny more people into our country and becoming a citizen?

I believe Donald Trump is unfit to be president. I believe that he has too high of a temper, his ideas will not help our country, and his behavior is just repulsive. I listen to all of the things he has said about women, and I worry. I worry about my young nieces who are growing up, for the young women in our country, for my future daughters, and for all of the girls around our nation. Should they think it is okay for men to degrade them like that? What kind of example is Trump setting for our young boys in this country? Would you be comfortable with someone saying things like that to a close female friend or family of yours? I sure hope not! And for him to pass off his behavior as “locker room talk” and “all men say that”, well that is plain disturbing. I hope that men do not talk to women like that, even if it is all just men in the room. It is never okay to degrade a woman like that. NEVER.

No, Hillary Clinton is not a perfect person. And heck, she was not my first choice as president. But I am with her, and I will proudly support her. She is our best hope for this country. Trump wants to lower taxes for the wealthy, how is that even fair? I have no idea. I believe Clinton will be an amazing president, and I know our country will be in good hands with her. This article was not to change your mind, but to let people know my political belief.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
