An Open Letter To High School Seniors Who Can't Wait To Leave For College

I just spilled Starbucks all over my white, fluffy chair, and my mom was not here to clean it up for me.

Dear Seniors,

First of all, congratulations on getting through two thirds of your senior year alive. Trust me, senior year was the hardest on me mentally because I knew I was so close to graduating. I just want to give you a few words of advice, since I will be done with my freshman year of college in about two and a half months.

I know that everyone tells you this, but do not wish the rest of the school year and summer away. You are currently living the easiest part of your life, and you will get the wake up call when it comes to college. Whether it is about money, living somewhere and with someone new, eating habits, or all three, life is going to hit you like a ton of bricks. Today, I spilled Starbucks all over my white furry chair in my room, ten minutes before my 8am class. Guess what, my mom was not there to clean it up, so I had to. Please, enjoy the ease of it all, and live your summer months up.

I do not recommend hopping on the senioritis train if you aren't already, but if you already are, ENJOY IT. College, in almost every major, is not joke. Most of the time, there is always something you need to or could be doing. Activities take up more time than you may think, and a lot of time they are mandatory. You have to plan out times to do things like eat, since you can't eat in your room, and it really gobbles up your time. Many college professors do not hold your hand through your assignments, so you have to always be on top of things. Enjoy life while you don't have to turn in assignments on time, you can possibly sleep in class, and you actually have a rapport with your teachers.

Despite all of this, I did not write this because I'm trying to scare you, because college has been the best time of my life. All that I'm saying is that, like everything in life, there are cons to it. For every party you go to, there are creepy people, for every ten coffees you get, theres a chance you spill one and will have to clean it up, and for every great group of friends you have, there will still be someone talking badly about you. It's awesome that you're looking forward to college, just don't wish these last few months away.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
