I can't count the number of times that I've told my big not to leave me in the past two months. For some reason you still think I'm joking. Tying you to one of the Wait Chapel columns isn't the most insane idea, is it?
This whole graduating thing comes as a shock for some reason. As freshmen we step onto campus with the realization that we will only be here for four years, but we don't realize just how important these four years really are. We gain a new family away from home, especially when joining a sorority and gaining a big.
When I joined Kappa Alpha Theta as a fall baby, my pledge class had a total of five. There were 130 some girls who already had their own lineages. Any one of them could have been my big. But there was only one who came out on top.
Biggie, you've been my guardian angel throughout most of my college career. How will I survive without you?
When I come back to my dorm at 3:00 a.m. crying over my crush making out with some other girl on the dance floor, who is going to cheer me up?
When my roommates become more intolerable by the minute, who is going to come all the way from Deacon Station to pick me up with a bottle of wine and a handful of candy ready to watch Gilmore Girls?
When finding an internship seems hopeless, who is going to search through every applicable opportunity and edit my resume to fit what they're looking for?
When I decide to go to a date function last minute, who is going to braid my hair, pick out my outfit, and go as my date?
When studying in the library becomes too stressful, who's going to get me in a classroom in the business school?
When I'm too lazy to walk all the way across campus to sleep in my own bed, who is going to let me sleep on their floor and talk about how cool Bettie was?
You leaving means that I'm at the top of the family tree. Yikes. Because you've been my second mom throughout my college career, I know that you are responsible enough to handle the real world. As much as I hate to see you go, I'm so thankful for everything that you've done for me. I can't wait to see all that you accomplish in the future! Cheers Biggie!
