Sometimes, letting your husband in your mind helps.

Dear Future Husband,

It is 10:15 a.m., I should be writing for my final that is due very soon. I should be studying for my 7:45 final the next day. But instead, I have chosen to write to you. I could be stereotypical and say that I hope you’re doing well in school right now, but not today my friend. I have chosen to write you a letter asking for you to provide me with these very simple things in the future because I love you.

Let me be independent.

There’s something about being independent that calls to me. I want to be proud of the fact that I have a job, and can purchase my own cosmetics, and can splurge on nails when I want to. I am very proud of the fact that I don’t need a man to rely on.

But that’s not to say I don’t appreciate the little moments of love.

Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you when you want to buy me perfume, take me to dinner, or splurge on a romantic getaway. It shows you care and want to have me in your life. This is regardless of the financial status of what we have together, or separately.

Make me laugh.

I can’t get through life without laughing it is what keeps me going. In the past, I have struggled with never laughing and being the saddest I have ever been. But having you to rely on will get me through all of the sadness that may come our way.

Support me.

Please be the support system that I need in my life. Having someone always there next to me and cheering me on will make the small victories feel like something that will change my life in big ways.

Be chivalrous.

In a time when men seem to get women by swiping right on Tinder, I want you to know that I would like you to be a gentleman. Hold open the door not only for me, but for the family in front of us, and the little old lady behind us. Make me proud to call you my husband.

But don’t be afraid to make me blush.

Being a little flirty in a relationship helps keep it vibrant and alive. Do not be afraid to tease and joke around with me, because chances are I will dish it out right back. I strive on attitude and teasing people, it’s who I am.

Help me stay close to God.

God is someone that has always been there for me even when I have had my doubts in life. Slowly, every day I get closer and closer to Him, but I still need someone to help me. I need someone who will be willing to pray with me when I need it and to attend Bible studies with me. I hope that you will encourage me in whatever religious decision is to come our way as a couple.

Stay by me even in my crazy time.

Sometimes, I enjoy eating brownies at 3 a.m. Sometimes, I enjoy going on massive Netflix binge watching. Sometimes I just need a long cry when things are not going how I planned them too. Be with me and hold my hand please reassure me that "I will be okay".

Love my family.

My family is the only family I will ever have. Please accept them and love them for who they are. My family has been there with me through everything in my life, they hold a massive space in my heart.

Make me the happiest woman alive.

These things listed above are just a small piece of what makes me who I am. I cannot wait for the day that I can look back and see that you have fullfilled all of these things and so much more.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
