Hi, my name is Casey Crowley. I am new writer here at Odyssey Online, and I am writing this first piece to introduce myself and let you all know who I am, what I care about and what I want to do here during my time here.

I am a University of Oregon Junior who is majoring in Journalism, along with being a transfer student from San Diego State University. As a college student I have been exposed to a lot of different parts of American culture and experienced a lot things, some of which maybe not everyone my age has, including things like traveling to South Korea, seeing pretty much all of my favorite bands live and attending some of the most exciting Portland Timbers games in recent years. One of my favorite things to do is listening to music. I listen to pretty much every genre including, rap, alternative rock and electronic. Of course the best part of music is going to concerts and experiencing my favorite artists’ music with the artist and my friends. Movies, television and video games are some of my favorite ways to pass the time because they are all great ways to tell a story that can make you care about the characters in that world and give yourself a look at worlds much different than ours. I am also a huge fan of the NBA and MLS, and I also follow the MLB and NFL pretty casually. My favorite teams of course are the Portland Trailblazers and the Portland Timbers. Politics are also important to me because of how much they can impact our everyday lives, and with this crazy election that is finally going to come to an end in less than a week, I feel that being politically informed is more important than ever.

My goal here is fairly simple. I want to write articles about a wide array of different important topics and always give a fresh and interesting take on the topic at hand. I also hope that with my writing I can give you all something that you can spend time thinking about. I hope to do this whether my article is about how I think Kevin Durant is a traitor for going to the Golden State Warriors or how I think our country is going to have a lot of problems moving forward no matter which of the two candidates wins. It does not matter to me that possibly only a few people will be care or like what I am writing about but if I can cause even one person to feel like they gained a new perspective on something or help them with a problem they are having in their life, no matter how unimportant or important if may be, then I will feel like I have done what I am here to do.
