We all want to live a bit of a healthier lifestyle and that can be really difficult when our culture thrives on social outings surrounded by food. If you're cutting out Taco Tuesdays and happy hours, one thing you don't have to cut out is coffee shop outings.

Whether you're meeting someone for the first time or hanging out with your crew, coffee shops don't have to be the diet crushing places we sometimes make it out to be. A lot of coffee shops offer a healthier menu or you could even ask your barista for a drink recommendation that may help you stay on track.

If you're not too sure where to start, you're in luck. Choosing healthier options during your coffee shop date doesn't need to be rocket science. Starting with a few good habits, you'll see that it is totally possible to have the best of both worlds.

You can completely enjoy yourself at your favorite coffee shop without the guilt.

1. Choose honey over sugar, cream or syrup pumps.

Honey is a natural alternative to pure sugar or flavor pumps. While of course, you want the extra caramel and white mocha... you'll be better off without it. Honey also tastes create in a variety of different drinks. Add it to your iced coffee, latte, or unsweet tea!

2. Skip a scone and order a fruit cup.

Most coffee shops sell fruit cups or yogurt parfaits! They're not only super yummy, but they are much healthier than a scone or a muffin. Plus, you still get that sweet taste that you were craving all along.

3. Order a small.

If you can't live without your extra caramel frap, order a small or even a kids size. Besides, you're allowed to treat yourself every once in a while. Cutting the portion back will save you calories while still letting you sip on your favorite go-to.

4. Get a water, too!

You can never have too much water! Okay, well, yes you can. But, if your coffee shop experience is usually a two or three drink minimum, order water the second time around. Plus, coffee shop iced water is actually pretty good. It's usually filtered well. You should try it no matter what.

5. Sub for skim or low fat milk.

While it may be a bit annoying to order, don't be afraid to swap the milk in order to reduce some calories. It might be a bit hard to get used to the taste at first, but you'll come around to it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
