Having a soft heart in a hard world is both a strength and a weakness. It is all part of the human factor that could give a person both an edge and a challenge. Does a soft heart make you a wimpy, delicate flower? Not necessarily. It also doesn't necessarily put you above and beyond other individuals.
The most significant benefits of having a soft heart would be your contribution to other human beings and your wide emotional capacity. With a soft heart, you genuinely care for others, even if they don't want your help. Sometimes, it pushes people away with misunderstandings, misinterpretations, or overall smothering. However, sometimes it will save someone's life. It will provide a comforting friend to a lost soul, who actually cares about their well-being. It will make someone laugh or smile, despite the darkness in their lives.
A soft heart is brave enough to get hit with emotions, which means all of them. When a soft heart is happy, they are really happy. When a soft heart is sad, they are really sad. It takes guts to feel and feel deeply. But the soft heart will experience life on the deepest of levels, from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows.
That opens up a weakness for the soft heart. The soft heart searches for the best in people, which often leads them astray. The hard hearts will hurt the soft hearts when they least expect it, crippling them for a time. Soft hearts are unable to stop caring and walk away. They are unable to let it go that someone is unhappy or that they caused unhappiness. It eats away at them until some sort of peace is made.
This makes it easy for the soft heart to forget the importance of their own well-being. It allows someone else to steal their happiness. But the good thing about soft hearts is that they eventually find other sources of happiness within themselves to overcome the easy injury.
Don't be afraid to be soft in a hard world. The reason the world is so hard in the first place is because we lack soft hearts. People close off emotions, kindness and caring to protect themselves from pain. However, the pain will never stop for the world if we all stop being soft.
